I thought I would share my findings on how I got this game to FINALLY work damn near flawlessly. Very minor artifacting, if any. Also little to no slowdown in FPS so far that I've seen. Here's what I did:
Go to Settings Applications in your BG&E folder. Set your resolution as high as you want, go to advanced settings. Water Detail - High AA - OFF Flare - On Shadows quality - High Then in the Compatibility box I have Manual Compatibility settings checked, but EVERYTHING ELSE unchecked. Save your work then quit or put it to the side for now. Go into CCC (Catalyst Control Center) click on the graphics drop down and go to 3D. Click on All tab at the top and configure the following: AA - 4x (morphological filtering is unchecked) AF - 16x Catalyst AI Texture Filtering Quality - High Quality (Enable Surface Format Optimization is checked) Wait for vertical refresh - *your personal preference* AA Mode - Adaptive Multi-sample AA OpenGL Settings - Triple Buffering is checked Make sure to apply settings, then launch the game. It should be working beautifully now. At least it has on my system. Here are my specs: Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor ~3.4GHz RAM: 8GB Graphics: AMD Radeon 6850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 Feel free to tinker with CCC settings. If anyone comes up with anything better reply in this post. I'm unsure if this will only work on just the 6850 card or possibly other ATI/AMD cards since you can adjust these options in CCC as well. |

Thanks, working great with these settings for me. Even seems like the stretching is gone, kind of hard to tell though.
My specs are somewhat similar to yours: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i5-750 RAM: 4GB Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 5870 |

Thanks so much. After trying other "fixes" with little success, this one worked perfectly for me as well. The game is now smooth and looking good.
It has also apparently fixed my sound sync issues (a former fix based on affinity setting did not work at all). BTW, it does not impact stretching on my system. My specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i5-450 RAM: 4GB Graphics: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5650 |
