New user question

I just finished downloading the game and got it started, in a tiny resolution by default, I'm wondering what am I supposed to do when I'm dancing against my will at the pool party. I want to drive cars and go to the city.

It was discouraging when the game started in windowed mode. Then I'm at a pool party dancing against my will! It took I while to figure out you've got to suck up to the dame in the building.
