Unhappy System.AccessViolationException
Since my error reports are drowning into the sea of other error reports, I have decided to post a own thread for this particular error which has been with me since version 1.3.3.1. This particular error crashes my game while:

1. In the book aka as the game opens.
2. As I change my MODEL or COLOR of my MODEL.
3. Sometimes when HOSTING a game.
4. A lot of times when trying to JOIN a game
5. When I manage to JOIN a game, it crashes in the LOBBY.

So please. Someone please explain what this means:

Translation: Kohteessa = At/At a target (The specific place where the error takes place).
The first finnish line in turn, says that memory might be corrupt. I have run SEVERAL MEMORY TESTS and they have all come out CLEAR. No errors. So the problem is not in my RAM.

As I take a closer look, I could speculate that the error happens somewhat like this.

Microsoft DirectX Direct DLL file, .DirectInput tries to find Gamepads and/other equipment. It does not find a gamepad since I have none attached. ONLY KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.
It starts, or atleast tries to ask from Magicka the proper commands for the gamepad THAT IS NOT THERE. Aka, which button does which.
Magicka in turn seems to try to find this NON EXCISTING GAMEPAD and give my computer, and to the gamepad itself (which is not there) the proper controls aka, which button does which.
The game then tries to LOAD those settings to the NON EXCISTING GAMEPAD, causing the game to crash.

Sometimes this takes 1 second. Sometimes 15 minutes. And sometimes I can play for 5 hours without this error.

Well that is strange. Hiiri = Mouse in Finnish. So that would mean that for some reason, my computer is registering two mouses even though there is only one attached.

Näppäimistö on the other hand = Keyboard.

So in reality I have Sidewinder as my mouse and Logitechs slim keyboard attached to the computers USB slots (since both be only USB connectable).

The problem persist, even though I somehow managed to disable the second mouse. Alas, Magicka team, I truly look forth for an effective solution.

Another day, another 100% identical crash while changing the colors of my character in singleplayer lobby, level 3.

Hi Rahka,

happens to me too everytime i try to run multiplayer.
i knew a few people with the same error, so lets bump this till arrowhead emgages in the discussion

The problem is your sidewinder, really, i had that same problem, then i saw your topic and the first thing i noticed was that we both have sidewinders. So i just unplug mine and used any other simple mouse and it worked.
You should really try that out.

I wish they had made this topic a sticky, like "Game does not work with Sidewinder mice"

then I wouldnt have bought the game

I used another mouse so that a profile can be created, then restarted the system.
I plugged the Sidewinder again, game will not crash during adventure mode at least. You have to start adventure mode or anything else for game engine to start. then when it goes to the menu it doesnt crash, not immediately at least.

Fortunately I have also a laptop for such cases.
