DX10 via Steam

I know you can right click Two Worlds II under Library to run the DX10 version. Is it possible to create a desktop icon for it? When I create a desktop icon, it seems to be the DX9 version.

Im not sure about cearing the shortcut directly from Steams library but try this....

Go to the Install folder:

Steam/steamapps/common/two worlds ii

Right click the .exe (( TwoWorlds2_DX10 ))
Choose send to --> Desktop Create Shortcut.

This will be your Destop Shortcut for the DX10 version.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, wouldn't that disable the Steam functions (shift-tab) within the game?

No, it will still run STEAM with the Game.

You still need Steam running, just as you as if you launched the game from STEAM itself.

Ideally, if you have a Graphics crad that is capable of DX10, that would be preferable.

However, I have noticed a few DX10 issues in the game, as well as a few others reporting it as well.

For Example, when looking up close, hair has artifacts at the tips and sometimes plants etc do as well in DX10 mode.

For me, switching back to DX9 resolved the issue.

Not a game braker by any means, and, personally I can not tell that much of a difference between DX10 & DX9.
However, those little artifacts on occasion drive me nuts so I prefer DX9 for this game.

Now, this was noticed for me, on a ATI 4890 card. Nvidia users may or may not see this. Im not sure there.

I would say give both a shot, and see which you prefer. It will not change gameplay at all, only the visuals slightly.

DX10 is better if your video card can handle it. Better visuals.

The most noticeable additions to DX10 over DX9 are advanced shading, deeper shadows/more advanced lighting, higher tessellation support, advanced depth of field, anti-aliasing feature support, and higher amounts of motion blur... though you'd be hard pressed to actually notice these differences without a trained eye.
