Sub-forums as strong as Half-Life 2: Episode Two forum?

I'm just wondering if anything else even comes close in terms of discussions, passionate fans, interesting topics, up-to-date news, etc. I go to Off Topic and the Episode Two forum mainly, everything else is way behind.

Ton of games on Steam, 1/10 of them great or awesome. Obviously I've made threads and visited many sub-forums, but they don't offer much that would lure you back on a continual basis. Most game forums are filled with too much threads on bugs, errors, Steam-related issues, hate, whining, etc. And since this is the age of franchising, almost every game gets a sequel at one point, but the anticipation for the next Half-Life title is clearly eclipsed by every other franchise on Steam.

So, what are your regular sub-forums that have interesting threads you're subscribed to and it feels like your second SPUF home?

Let's exclude multiplayer games for the sake of argument.

Also, a question for mods: what single player series or title gets the most traffic? And if it's Episode 2, then what's 2nd and 3rd?

I was about to say Team Fortress 2, but I couldn't stop laughing.

I got most of my (counted) posts in HL2:Ep2 (and HL2). But with the total desert of news about the future of the HL series - I now spend most of my time here in OT.

But there is an excellent thread there called "Kill the Advisor" where you post you Paint-edited pix of a stick figure "taking care of" an Advisor. I did one where I was slow-cooking an Advisor over a Mesquite-wood Fire.

They're hella strong, if you consider people complaining about everything and hat trading as strong. Also "NAME MY WEAPON" threads.

I still haven't checked that out. And I don't know why.

I have kinda given up all hope on Ep3 and consequently all games Valve so don't play on the Valve game forums anymore. I do think it was the most active a back in December when I still cared.

I find it fun that a game as mediocre as Half-Life and the sequels can be hailed as so great but when other games does the same like: little to no storyline they get shot down but not Half-Life.

Many disagree with this opinion.

Many does not attend universities or take long educations either.

Doesn't really change anything. I am not saying it is bad. It is good, like Serious Sam or Duke Nukem. No storyline, jsut lots of good old action.

From my understanding - the storyline of Half-Life 2 is one of the strongest elements of the game - and probably one of the biggest reasons for it's 96% Metacritic rating.

I am not implying anything, tell me what you think I am implying.

For the record though. Not implying anything, you just made me curious now. I am listening.

Half-Life 2 has a very weak, overdone, in many sci-fi movies story line. And it is weak because much of the story is not told in the game but rather in lore and stuff you can read about on the internet rather than in game. A weak character with no personality and a weak cast of NPCs.

Again, to calm you down. Good game, just like Serious Sam.
