Smithsonian exhibit: 80 video games spanning 40 years [PLEASE VOTE!]

http://www.artofvideogames.org/
(only email required to cast your vote)

You cannot change an individual vote once you have selected it so choose carefully.

Voting kicks off today and runs until April 7, with the results posted online in May. The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 16 to September 30, 2012.

So this would be the creme de la creme. I usually don't give a about these voting things, but reading this just makes me want to get on board...

Quote:
"The Art of Video Games" is an ambitious exhibition launching at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. in March of 2012. It's goal is to explore 40 years of the evolution of video games as an art form.
Quote:
Chris Melissinos, founder of Past Pixels and video game collector will be acting as the curator of the exhibit. He helped out by narrowing down the choices to 280 games spanning five different eras, from the Atari 2600 to the Xbox 360, by merit of graphic excellence, artistic intent and innovative game design. Each era is broken down into systems and genres. Once Melissinos made his decisions they were approved by a board of industry professionals including developers, designers, and members of the gaming press.
Quote:
When the dust clears, 80 video games will represent four decades of video games as art, so choose carefully.
So head on over to http://www.artofvideogames.org/ and VOTE!

P.S. Spread the link around on any social sites you visit.

Took some loading time but I can view Era 5 now. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks soon, cos we're likely to cause some traffic overload, once this gets spread around different news sites, forums.

Minecraft is on it, that's a good sign. I haven't played it, but it shows that at least some consideration went into creating this, being current and all.

Well, as an honorable person, I can only vote for games I've played, so...sorry Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy.

I shall repent for my sins by buying the SNES cartridges. I have an FC Twin.

I voted earlier and that site was just painful to use. by the time I got to the end I had ten votes that had gone uncounted, I wasn't about to dig through the whole thing to find out which ones they were.

So they already narrowed down the list so anonymous couldn't vote in some hentai game. Tried to register but nothing yet.

Try editing your post under advanced settings. I think you can change your own title.

Oh superb, I thought the only option was 5-10 seconds after posting. Thanks for this.

Yeah I haven't been able to look at the games in Era 1 and 2 yet. Site has some issues, no doubt.
