Why does Gman...
Make his random "easter egg-like" appearances?
In the Episode 2 scene/speech he gives, he says "I wish I could do more than keep an eye on you", does this mean that he acknowledges these random sightings that you can see him in? He's been doing this since Half Life 1, but what I don't get is why he's actually doing it? Is it really just to look out for Gordon and alter his path to help him through the game itself? Or am I completely missing something vital here? |

In HL1 he watches/judges you to determine if you're an appropriate... ssskh... employee.
In HL2, he appears to aid/manipulate a great deal more (Odessa Cubbage, Eli), as Gordon Freeman is clearly already an employee. |

In context of the line, he's referring to how he wishes he had more direct control over you as opposed to merely watching. But, yes, he does acknowledge that.
