VAC Y U NO WORK

Though the title sounds like a troll....

Is Vac just some idle threat? i became and admin on my normal server about a month ago and every day i get a mininum of 20 complains about hackers... though im not always sitting infront of my computer... the ones i am around to get 90% of the time are obviously hacking, at first i thought it was just some aimbot that came out... but after a month of daily banning 5+ people... it really makes you wonder

So are there any plans to make vac actualy do what its supposed to?

or is it really that hard to reprogram it to lock out influence from any outside programs aside from Steam and TF2 themeselves..

VAC does what it's supposed to, that being tracking known hacks via certain methods, and mass-banning after it's caught certain numbers of them.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw a legitimate hacker in this game, so I find it quite amazing that yer actually catching this many a day... makes me wonder

Probably someone trying to troll that server, unbanning themselves.

Or maybe your server attracts hackers like flies swarming honey.

I too haven't come across a legitimate hacker in years on VAC servers. I think it works better than any other system I've ever seen concerning this type of thing.

I see people complain of hacking all the time, but it's always just a case of them being mad for somebody being better than them.

How do you think i feel when i come home from class and have 20+ messages

It doesnt catch people who use wall hacks... had a guy on the server who played on it for almost 6 months till we actually caught him.... and if Vac was not updated in that time, well that makes it usless imo.... and if it was updated......i have seen a few vac bans but most of them seem to be aimbots... not crap like ones that glow outline hostile players(which between me and the other admin on the server have caught and banned atleast 100) also the people who mod the Decloak sound to something loud ....we run a pure sever and that crap still works... (ive no clipped under them and cloak and decloaked with spy poly and there yelling spy over and over spinning aroudn looking)

as i said VAC needs to lock out all influence from any program aside from TF2 Steam......

The thing about VAC is that it usually waits for a few weeks after it catches someone hacking to issue a ban so that it becomes more difficult to determine the exact hack that got detected. With that delay, it is certainly no replacement for vigilant admins until the hackers get their dues, but it does help to spread confusion in hacking communities and to keep catching more and more people with the same hack. Sadly, banning hackers is just a part of being an admin, so the most you can do is try to get in touch with admins of other servers and communicate about possible hackers and keep them out before they become a problem to everyone else.

The bans aren't immediate. Theres a 1 week delay between getting caught and getting banned.

you cant but when your using the spy polycount set and using admin powers to no clip under them and cloak and decloak repetively... the behavior is a give away when they start spining around and screaming spy

admin smarter not harder

VAC only catch some cheaters. It has nothing to do with delayed bans.

However it's a lot better than nothing. If you'd like to test it, try turning it off on the server for a day and you'll likely get overrun by cheaters.

I've seen it done quicker. Much quicker.

Btw which game is it about? TF2? As that game is pretty much cheat free what I've seen.

If wallhacks bothers you turn on sv_pure 2 It was made for a reason.

What is commonly known as a bad case of "HAXX0Ritis" Finding a legitimate hacking accusation is like finding a needle in a haysack.

Just out of curiosity. What do you use as evidence of hacking before banning someone? Recorded games, player accusations, in game observation?
Because 5 bans a day seems a lot to me.

From my experience i have yet to find a real cheater in game, the closest i've seen was a campernoobsniper wiht a custom skin so he could shot fully cloacked spies (Headshotted me twice totally cloacked and still, later i backburned his out until he ragequitted )

And do not expect Vac to act inmediately. Vac waits in the shadow, until the cheater is knee deep in when he attacks.
