Is this playstile useful?

close range support recon using m24 w/ lightweight and magnum/spotter depending on teammate skill. sometimes alternate to gol for higher damage. Use this loadout to fire 1 shot from rifle, than pistol rest of health off. Main reason to use it though is throwing motion sensors for allies. Is this considered a useful loadout?

The simple fact of using motion sensors increases your usefulness. Bring c4/mortars along, to demolish buildins/clear Tank support, and you will be a great recon.

Also, consider using 4xscopes, as most of the time you'll be engaging medium to close distance. But if you fell comfortable with stock sights, props.

The spotting scope is useless, just press q. This is an incredibly efficient play style, and I usually end up doing it nowadays.

If you are close enough, you won't need to finish anyone off with the pistol, because the snipers are a 1 hit kill. Magnum doubles the 1 hit kill range, which is incredibly useful.

I find lightweight more important than a smaller scope. I can quick scope just fine with the defaults, it's something everybody should learn.

Use whatever rifle and sight you prefer, use magnum ammo and the 443 grach pistol.
C4 or mortar, doesn't matter, both great, forget lightweight, but extra nades might be useful.

How is swapping to the gol going to get you higher damage?

M24 and GOL have the same damage.

Also Magnum ammo is useless with bolt action sniper rifles, you will have to shoot twice to the body (or once if close enough) and once to the head regardless if you have magnum or not.

Other than that that style of play works fine. In fact I use that kind of style myself. Stick around about motion mine throw away from the action and pick of people with your sniper rifle and pistol.

Mag is actually useful with bolt actions if you are up close. Just like slugs it pretty much doubles your one hit kill range (to the body)

From time to time I use the M95 or M24 with RDS as a CQB recon, it's surprising how effective the sniper rifles are when used like shotguns, they seem more accurate too. The spotter perk is completely useless.

I don't use mortars, C4 is way more fun and effective, I love sneaking up on tanks even in open maps like Harvest day (try it, it's not easy).

barring the motion sensors i would say yes "assault sniping" could be effective but i would rather advise you to take an (auto)shotgun/thompson for closequarter combat or a g3 for midranged combat. of course unless youre confident enough to make perfect one-hit-one-kill shots with the boltactions at any range

The g3 is pretty much pointless if you are recon. Take the VSS, just like the g3 but with a scope and slightly faster fire rate.

I seem to be doing ok with it. You gotta be quick with the fingers in order to get that pistol out though.

And ridiculously high DPS.

Assault snipers can be sort of useful, but they tend to miss the big picture and really just run around deathmatching. Assault + shotgun is usually a better setup for getting in to the action.

What you want to do as a recon is sit further back and spot everything that comes in to view/ use ventrillo to talk to people. You can warn your team about basically every enemy on some maps, and pick enemies off the planted Mcoms easily. You usually want to find a good balance where you can still throw your motion mines to spot, but still be far enough back to where people aren't going to screw with you too often. As long as you use Q, you'll overall be more useful to the team.

the narrow scope sight could again be fatal in closequarters. also if you slap a reddot on the vss in order to be cqb compatible, youll probably run out of ammo in no-time as you cannot apply the additional ammo spec. the g3 is an effective weapon, has clear sights, good rof/dps and is therefore unbelievably deadly with bursts at midrange. still, if you are going to play rush in extreme closequarters theres nothing that matches the deadliness of an usas + extended mag in order to fry your opponents
