Use some thing like autohotkey to make your arrow keys act like A and D, that way the game will be able to use them properly.

I noticed that you can't re-bind 2 to anything else either, as it will always switch weapons.

it's like the default keybinds stay hard coded even if you re-do them.

Well I was able to bind RMB to the scope/iron sites. Is there some reason you want to use old style key bindings over WASD? Just curious. You paid play as you like.

Yeah, I did the same for the scope. Obviously more natural - especially considering how few keys there actually are!

No way I could see to switch 'turn left & right' to 'strafe left & right' tho'...

A lot of people use different keys, I'm one of them. Most games let you bind the key you want - unfortunately this game isn't one of them.

If anyone knows of an autohotkey script that works well with this game please let us know.

Just make one with simple key replacements.

like this

Code:
left::A
right::D
Paste that into notepad, save it as an .ahk file and open it with autohotkey.
Your left and right arrows will now send A and D instead.

Yes, I know that. I was just being nosy.

No, I don't know of any scripts. You might post in the help and tips section. Just make it game neutral. A lot more geeks hang out there and you might get a bite or two there in regards to your script.

I always used the arrow keys and all the keys over there!

Not sure everyone understands what puffader is asking.

Like me, he wants keys to STRAFE with, not turn left/right. We can bind the arrow keys easily enough, but only to TURN, not strafe (run sideways while looking at your target etc).

Anyone know a way to do it?

I think we understand - we're screwed because the game developers thought everyone in the world used adsw - when in reality that was wrong.

Since none of us - at least not me - know what autohotkey is, or if we even have it (since we've never had to use it before this game we bought and can't play) it would be nice if those that have used autohotkey tell us, in detail what we have to do to get: 'arrow up' to equal 'w'... and so on...

In a nutshell: we can't play like this.

Period.

Deadspace might be a great game - I have it, but I can't play it. I can't bind the keys I use to play the game.

Developers who develop with the index finger of one (or both)hands buried into a nostril to the second knuckle aren't really developing games I want to play.

In future I will note who develops before I plunk my money down.

Yeah, I'm really tired of having to edit config files when the options used to be in the menu and easy to find in real PC games. Rebinding keys used to be a key feature of real PC games.
