The Price of Selling Steam Accounts
A user has lost $1800 in games for violating the SSA. Your thoughts on this?

Yeah...it seems that we don't buy games form Steam we just "borrow" them and that's not quite a good deal in my opinion but it seem that this issue doesen't stop us from continuing this "charade".I, for one don't think I'll ever want to sell my account but if I did I would like to have THE CHOICE of selling a thing that I OWN.If we would have the choice of doing what we wanted with our accounts [except cheating or scamming] the Steam users numbers would explode. But that is just my opinion.

He brought it upon himself, there are very clear reasons why such policies are in place: for every 'honest' customer that wishes to resell their games, there's a dozen black hats trying to make a buck from their stolen accounts.

I think they should give him his account back. He never sold it. Thats like prosecuting someone for murder just because they said they were gonna kill you.

A very good reason why people should read what they click yes or accept to.

The licence is non transferable. Don't know what part of that isn't clear and understandable. Did it to himself. At least now, he no longer has to worry about the account he didn't want anymore.

I still believe you shouldn't lose access to your games just because you get banned. That's just stupid. Price is same as it is for physical box. That's why we should only buy games on steam, when they are on sale.

While I think he brought it on himself, I think a permanent disabling is extreme, particularly when he didn't actually sell it.

The account got banned on the premise that he/she SPOKE about selling it?
Valve are in the wrong here I feel. Although he/she did say he WAS trying to sell it, so the intent is clear. Yet he/she didn't actually sell it. Tough break for the user I guess :P |

You don't. Banning and permanently disabled account are two different things. Banning is strictly for cheating on MP and only effects your ability to play on VAC secured servers. Disabling means you not longer can access or play on your account. The difference is very important.

The article doesn't mention that the account has been re-enabled.
