I don't know if I'm the only one having this issue (sure seems like it). To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
I pre-ordered Homefront and last night did the pre-load of Homefront. When I attempt to play the game it gives me a Steam - Error. This game is currently unavailable please try again another time. I've done just about everything I can think of to get this working. I'm running WinXP 64 bit edition, but I don't think that should matter all the other steam games work perfectly and I've never gotten this message before. I've uninstalled/reinstalled many times, still no go. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the runtimes/physx engine etc. No luck. Has anyone else come across this issue at all? I'm in the US I don't think it should be a region issue. If it is how do I check I'm in the correct region? My download region is Washington DC. I'm completely frustrated I've been trying to get this game working all day. I've put tickets with steam but have received absolutely no response. Not even a sorry to hear your problems can we have more info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ddraig |

Can you answer these two questions..
Do you have WinXP 64bit Pro edition? Did the game install the Physx engine for you and ask to reboot? When I attempted to install on my wifes, it said it was done but I had to go back in and verify the files in the cache. After it did that the physx engine started to install. (go figure) Then asked for a reboot. After reboot it ran fine on my wifes computer which is winxp home 32bit. |

Win 7 64 bit here...
Physx engine installed without asking to reboot. Maybe I need to play around with the admin to run it on a different Windows settings till it is patched. 1st though I am reDLing it all from steam. I bought it off of Amazon, so I had the 5 gig dl from them, then 2nd part from steam. I will see if dling all from Steam fixes it in about an hour. If not, then I will play around with the admin and see if that does anything. Last edited by Raijin-UT: 03-15-2011 at 07:23 PM. |

Thanks, your issue sounds slightly different than mine. I've not been able to get the game to run at all. But you said you were able to get it running without issue until an update?

Don't know what if the issue is due to the 64 bit version on Windows or what. Cannot find much info out currently other than a few people stating it's crashing for them on launch too. |

Glad I'm not the only one having similar issues. Definitely something odd with 64 bit edition on my system.
I was at the point of buying a new HD to install Win 7 on, but then I was like hold on a minute. Every time I make an impulse buy I get burned. (Homefront being the latest example.) |

Anyways... Nothing on that thread will help the OP or some others including myself because that thread talks about a Windows error, we have a Steam error. We have the "Steam Error - unavailable" not "Windows Error jiberish". Last edited by hollander208: 03-15-2011 at 10:31 PM. |

C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\My Games\HOMEFRONT\GCGame\Config
Then the {SystemSetting} is about 3/4 the way down. Steam keeps setting this file to true... so I keep needs to change to false to play the game. |
