Thumbs up It Is Worth It

Hi there fellas and girls (p'raps)

I just thought I would post a thread to counter-balance the 'Not Worth It' thread also present as I type.

I bought it today and I decided play single player and stick to one vehicle and one track to gain some experience with both - and I believe that is where the worth and value comes in. To me the price is balanced against the pleasure one receives from the (any) product and at around the price of 2 UK pints of ale I am very happy indeed, even regarding the minimum time I have spent so far in the game.

Like I said - I have played with one vehicle and one track over and over and aim to learn the peculiars of the vehicle and the track concerned; and that to me is important in a game like this if you wish/aim to be 'best'. I'm sure everyone appreciates that the best competitive drivers in the world have to learn every aspect of their vehicles and the minutist inch of the track and marry the two together - to perform and compete?

I know this game appears simple and is a lot of fun initially but there are some depths to these types of games that it appears are not willing to be learnt by the majority of game-players. These usually are the ones moaning that their beer money hasn't been spent on realistic driving models and state-of-the-art graphics.

Also on balance I believe the content of tracks, game-types and vehicles are small and more would be better, and the motion-physics be a little less floaty and more rugged/realistic - but, this is what we all paid for and personaly with these small/simple games we shouldn't expect 'too' much.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I now have this game and whilst sparse in content, has more to offer than is realised at the outset. Charging around on all and every track with all and every vehicle certainly is one way to do it, but learning the tracks and vehicles (offline) is what will make the difference between the go-getter online winners and the players who just want an easy time of winning... and whine that the game is poor because they haven't won. Work for it I say and I'll hopefully see you on the track!

Albert.

I can't offer any commentary on whether the snippet above accurately describes things, because I haven't played the game. However, a "floaty" physics model in a driving/racing/combat game would kinda be a deal-killer, in my opinion. Clearly, a game like this isn't going to require realism to take center stage, but I'd still like my vehicle to feel like it has mass.

just think, this game costs less than 2 small packets of cigarettes, (I don't smoke so the comparison may be inaccurate)

Sure, but that doesn't help me if we're talking about a racing game with a "floaty" physics model. It just means, in the event of this claim being true, that I might feel slightly less bad about the purchase than if I had paid more.

"You're only spending x dollars" isn't always a compelling reason to purchase something. If I used that criteria for every game I bought, I would quickly find myself having spent a lot of money on games I never play. I value forums like these in the interest of minimizing the risk of buying bad games and games I won't like, whether we're talking about $4.99, $9.99 or $59.99.

Price comparisons make me laugh - I remember one guy once telling a developer on their forums "I could have gotten a nice BJ and a good lay from a local girl for the amount I paid for your game - I demand compensation" Poor developer.

Not sure where you live but a pack of cigarettes are neither small nor large and are all basically the same size. 20 in a pack.

Also where I live I can get this game cheaper at it's sale price than I can get 1 pack of cigarettes Around here they cost abit $9 a pack.

But I do agree about the "floatyness" of the game. Gravity need to be set a little higher and the shocks on vehicles tightened up a little
