Probably this. It's a better designed game.

So far I'd say Empire, actually. Shogun is nice but Empire felt a bit more "massive" in scale - and the naval battles were superb fun.
![]() I'd love a Rome 2 though. That would be fantastic. Or even a Victorian era Empire 2. |

Definitely Rome, once I tried the demo I was hooked for life. Medieval I got tired of and Empire didn't appeal to me at all. Shogun 2 is great, but Rome is a video game classic for me.

Pretty much Rome. The more I play Shogun 2 the more I think it's my new favorite though.
I thought I was going to love Empire, but I actually hated it. I haven't played the original Medieval or Shogun games. Medieval 2 was cool but I dunno it just didn't hook me the way Rome did. |

Yeah I was most excited about Empire TW too and I hated it. I just cant get used to the ''stand back and skirmish/range'' rubbish of that era. Much prefer melee type ones, Rome being my favourite (Shame the graphics look so bad in comparison to the latter games or Id still be playing it
) but fingers crossed we get Rome 2 next !

Rome is my favorite. There is just something special about that era when it comes to warfare.
That said, even the worst of the series (Napoleon in my opinion) is good. |

Rome is a genuine classic, and I'm looking forward to Rome 2 which is sure to be the next TW game.

The original Medieval by far.
I would rate the games in this order: Medieval Rome Shogun 2 Medieval 2 Empire Napoleon I've left out the original Shogun as i've never played it and can't really comment. |

Rome by far. No other total war has matched it in my opinion, at least for it's time.
I'd rate them thus: Rome Shogun 2 Napoleon Medieval 2 Empire (I rate Empire last because it was terrible in the technical department, I love the period and scale but the bugs made it unplayable.) Never owned the other two so haven't had much of a chance to play them. |

Truth be told i discarded it at first since i was so excited about medieval 2, but a year later with my customary relapse i tried Medieval... Man did i have some fun! I have a feeling Shogun 2 will grow on my list tho, possibly gaining first place in time. |
