reset the vac servers and remove all banns at the start of each year

your new years resolution dont cheat.

seems kinda dumb that you get permanently banned for cheating infraction sometimes out of error or you were framed or someone hacks your account like me and gets you banned right now as it is the vac system is mindless usually it only takes people to be banned once to learn their lesson ok lets give it a 3 strike session everytime you hack or cheat of violate the rules on a game youll be banned for a period of bann time month week days depending upon the nature of the infraction now once you hit the 3rd strike your banned from a game until next year oh yeah and if you had stats on a game they would pretty much be reset after your bann status lifted.

instead of being permanently banned and give people a new years resolution sort to speak that at least that way innocent players who were banned still have a chance to get back on there games if you ask me this is alot better then being permanently banned for all of eternity

Temp bans do not work.
You were not framed as that cannot get someone VACed.
Either you or someone else used an "illegal" file on a VACed game.

Keep your system & your account secure & you won't have any issues like this.

OP has to be a troll or a 12 year old kid who got banned on MW2

Every January hundreds of thousands of accounts would come back and terorise games for 1-2 months while they are all rebanned.

you would be dead wrong there on both guesses the point is i think the vac system needs to be reworked so temp banns are possible

No, temps bans existed when VAC was first released. They started with 5 year bans and then 1 year bans.
It didn't work so they took a zero tolerance stance on cheating.

As for Matthew's second point, what makes you so sure there wouldn't be a cheating frenzy the few days before the end of the year?

As I said before, don't use anything that would trigger a ban and don't get your account stolen & you will never have any issues.

BTW, any time that VAC does actually ban in "error", such as the MW2 bit, Valve reverses the ban.
I put error in quotes since it wasn't a VAC issue, but a steam client issue.

It is obvious that you think cheating is ok since you want to allow them to cheat til they reach 3 strikes.

i dont think cheating is right dude i got banned from counter strike source and the half a life 2 source system right after my steam account was hijacked so do the math and i dont own CoDMW2 yet

heres what valves rules state all vac bans are permanent and they dont care if your account was hijacked and hacks were used on it by the hijacker im just saying it would be kinda nice to get the bann reversed if a hijacker uses hacks on your account and gets you banned.

In regards to hijacks, if it were possible to prove 100% without a doubt, you could get un-banned.
They have done it before due to a virus that triggered a ban on someone.

It's really not that hard to secure your system.

Horrible idea. Valve took away temporary bans for a reason. Also, this would turn December into a hack-fest.

The problem is how does one prove if you REALLY got hijacked, or you just set up a hijack so you could cheat then use the 'I got hijacked, unban me' excuse later, noone can, so they must assume on the side of caution.

It's really very simple, maintain your PCs security, and do not cheat.
