Inflated Score on First Play?

The first time I played an adventure, I obviously sucked... but I still got 59th highest score EVER, even though the score I was told I got was significantly lower than what appeared on the leader boards. Same thing happened for the first time I played hardcore mode, but every time after I played, my scores were exactly what it said at the end of the adventure, and even though I beat my first adventure's score, I didn't get a higher score on the leader boards.
Basically, in the local high scores, it says one thing for my first normal and hardcore adventure, but on the world highscores, it says something about twice as high. Anybody else noticing this?
