Moving Portals?
Yesterday I was watching the movie Monsters Inc. At the end the two main characters try to scape from a reptile monster by using the moving doors. This makes me think: Why Portal does not allow to shoot a portal over a moving surface?
That movie scene was epic, because you can see the hole exterior of the room moving while the door is moving. That would be so awesome to the game, although very dizzy. I don't know if the game engine doesn't allow this kind of portal, but I think they should add it to Portal 2. Maybe using the conversion gel.

Because making portals is already really difficult and can get a bit heavy on the engine.Besides making portals movable would make for extreme paradoxes.

But they could make something to prevent from making a portal go trough another portal. Also I was thinking of a rotating wall with a portal placed over it, not a portable portal |

In portal 1 as soon as a portal bearing surface moved the portal closed. The mechanics of making portals stay on movable surfaces is just too much for current hardware to handle

This would kind of be impossible to do. But if they can pull it off, that would be amazing!

actually i would like to be able to shoot a portal through another portal. there have been times when i see a place i want to place a portal through a current portal but not anywhere else and shooting through a portal would really help.

As in Futurama episode The Late Philip J. Fry, Time itself would end and the restart going to that point again. And after a set amount of tries, it would not happen and the universe would be 6 feet lower than our current one.

I'd go with something along the lines of... The moment the forced quantum-linked particle groups made by the portal gun fall out of alignment, the connection collapses. I imagine a massive generator would be able to keep a non-stationary group of quantum-linked particles connected, but nothing you'd be able to hold in your hands.

There are ways to do this other than shooting a portal through a portal. Think about projectile travel time. I've done this multiple times in Portal Pro

i'm kind of hoping someone from valve reads this and is thinking "oh they will love what is in the 2nd half of the game" haha
![]() regarding the paradox thing mentioned.. they could just make a portal act as a "fizzler" for incoming portals Last edited by yourworldonfire: 04-04-2011 at 10:40 PM. |
