I guess most of us that are interested in BRINK have doubts whether it's a console or not. Well Splash Damage are pure PC developers that have experience in making few PC games such as:
*Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein 2002 *Wolfenstein:_Enemy_Territory 2003 *DOOM 3 2004 * Enemy_Territory:_QUAKE_Wars 2007 All those games above are PC only that have over 80+ metacritic scores. BRINK is their first and only multi-platform game that also uses the same engine as ET Quake Wars. The engine is called Id Tech 4 which is highly modified for this game. Basically guys If you can run ET Quake Wars nicely 60+ fps then you won't have any fps problems on BRINK. Since it's a multi-platform game, there might be slight chance you could have fps problems. Source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_Damage btw I'll be making important suggestions for the PC version in the official forums. |

I'm starting to think the console version will be a PC port.

Yeah I have high hopes this will be very very good on PC. The devs got alot of experience with PC games and Enemy Territory Quake Wars was a great game but came out at a bad time.

I've just remembered BRINK was delayed for like 1 or 2 times. You wouldn't see that happening in COD games because of Activision greedy reasons. It's probably the only reason why MW2/Black Ops are console ports. Bethesda did not rush Splash Damage for obvious reasons. I'm hoping the PC version benefited from the delays.

Iam not sitting bare assed on the photocopier just yet.
People stating that the game will be good/bad/best/worst are putting the cart before the horse. If anyone followed the Homefront forums prior to its release would know about all the fanboi's talking it up, saying its no console clone, no Blackflops clone, made by PC experts for PC gamers. Have a look now...a split community (Which may have been fixed with a recent patch) but a lot of people were unhappy with the end result...why?? Because their expectations were so blown up by fanboi's comments, dev youtube clips & heresay that the end result was so disappointing that they ran out and bought a pack of razor blades. Let then game come to us. I would rather be delightfully surprised then horribly disappointed. |

On the other hand, Brink looks like something totally new from what I've seen, its really obvious its not gonna be like any other game (I've) played. |

I originally was looking forward to Homefront, but certain things made me suspicious. I never bought it & very glad I didnt. On the other hand I have pre-ordered Brink...which I dont normally do...here's hoping!! |

Brink, to me, looks like a bad ♥♥♥ COD type game. But since it's not trying to be realistic, it won't be utterly stupid.

The only concerning thing is this SMART button looks kinda consolish. At least 3 of the 4 Splash damage games the OP posted had an element of trickjumping in the MP. Hope that doesn't go away. Also with Homefront, the patch has fixed about 90% of what is wrong with the MP. Last edited by jahn: 04-05-2011 at 08:25 PM. |

From my point of view I'm fine with SD giving the newer/more casual players something to help them, given that the hardcore players can still outperform through skill. It narrows the gap, definitely, but I would rather have close fights than horribly one-sided ones. Though I kind of feel like I'm turning into someone like those aforementioned Homefront fans who over-hyped the game before release, so it's probably better to take this with a grain of salt. Edit: To be fair my "console port" red-flags come from not having seen any PC footage. It looks like all footage I've seen has been played on consoles and most of the times I hear of reviews from people who have played the game say that they've played it on console. That and no PC system requirements yet makes me wonder. Last edited by Robotkio: 04-06-2011 at 01:04 PM. |

The guys who formed Splash damage made Quake Fortress, Valve bought the title from them to make team fortress and team fortress 2
I love these guys :3 |
