TF2 Keeps Crashing!

Hoping someone might be able to offer some advice on this new problem that started yesterday. I'm able to launch the game and join servers. Trouble is, the game crashes, usually within a minute or so. I haven't made any changes to my computer or anything.

Here is the crash report (had to shorten it up to fit here):

Thumbs down

I have exactly the same problem. Started after hatless update. Sometimes I can play for an hour or so, sometimes immediate crash.

It looks like the problem is caused by google-breakpad but since google-breakpad is a crash reporting tool maybe I'm understanding this wrong. Here are two crash logs:

the problem isnt breakpad. valve uses breakpad for crash reporting because it is cross platform, and breakpad is merely basically rethrowing the uncaught exception that caused the crash. If you look at any valve crash log it always reports the breakpad thread as the crashed thread.

The problem is not TF2 specific either. all games that were updated on the 14th are seeing this so the deductive reasoning points to a coding error in the source engine update.

I echo the above.

TF2 crashes very frequently since last update, I hope Portal 2 isn't affected

Can it be that the chosen video settings are having an effect if a game crashes or not or when? Before that update curiously enough it wasn't a big difference for me in fps whether I had chosen everything to max or to min, except AA and AF. But now I have to chose the submitted settings because if I don't do it, the fps are going down and TF2 will crash.

I deleted the Team Fortress 2 folder in my SteamID folder so it would reconstruct the folder all fresh and new but that didn't work either. Launched with "-autoconfig" and that didn't work either. I had TF2 working perfectly fine after the Hatless Update but then after the patch from today (April 19th) mine crashes at the loading screen for the menu...

having same exact issue. totally intermittent, but hasn't gone away since the Hatless Update. it DID get better with the update on the 18th but still having totally random (and ANNOYING) crashes!

running Mac OS X 10.6.7 on an "Early 2011" MacBook Pro 15" i7 2.3 GHz with 4 GB RAM and AMD 6750M video card

would post my crash log but it's just more text spam for this page, but have already submitted it thru TF2's bug reporting tool.

HELP!!!

How long does it take to get questions answered?

Same issue here. I submitted a question about the crashing and attached the crash log, what is the common wait time for a response?

not for me - just the app itself crashes. i can then relaunch it without even restarting Steam and it'll work fine for a couple of hours... go figure!!

Interesting..recently my whole computer shutsdown and I'm faced with a kernel panic.. Although I get the same looking crash log.

I've tested my hardware especially my RAM and memory tests pass.. I'm hoping STEAM can fix it X_x

I'm getting this intermittent crash, that started on or around the 16, with the same sort of error log on the crash. It may be psychological, but it always seems to happen when I'm doing well :P

When mine crashes only TF2 seems to go down, but I can't restart TF2 without causing another crash. Portal 1 loads fine though. After I restart Steam TF2 will load again, but will probably crash again in an hour or two. Restarting the Mac seems to restore more stability, but it's not permanent.

Also, strangely, (and maybe unrelated?) I'm unable to load TF2 beta. It doesn't even crash, it just fails to do anything when I try to launch it from Steam.

I'm using a 2008 iMac that runs OS 10.6.7. It doesn't have other problems (as far as I know). I have verified the integrity of the game cache for both TF2 and TF2 beta. There was one error in TF2, but fixing that error has not solved the problem.

I'll post more info on request.
