Always running forwards...

Hi everyone,

For some reason, in Portal 2, I cannot help but run forwards, ALL the time.

No matter what I press or do, Chel always runs in the direction my mouse is pointing.

I'm thinking it's maybe some joystick interferring with P2? If so, that could be right, I have many joysticks, pedals, axis, etc, attatched to my PC.

If so, how can I disable these?

Jack

For starters unplug them to see if they are actually causing the issue

Unfortunately, this is not possible.

I have a full-sized Boeing 767 flight simulator running off this PC. There are well over 10 Potentiometers (axis) plugged in at one time, that cannot be acessed without extreme difficulty.

Unfortunately, Simian, that command does not seem to work; neither does -nojoy -noipx

I can confirm it is the joysticks causing the issue. Opening the developer console, "Axis X" of Joystick 2 is controlling forward strafing. I just need a way to disable all joysticks.

Disable them in device manager and re-enable them when you need them?

Please keep checking that other thread for updates. You and the other guy are having the same problem, so having a single thread for both of you makes more sense.

I've updated the other thread with another possible solution.

Cheers.

I had same problem. I don't run full-size simulator - but something like this on smaller scale. CH rudder pedals were causing this problem for me - and I temporarily disabled them in control panel. You can try disabling on control device at the time.
I hope this helps.
