Question: PSN Downtime and STeam Achievements

Since the PlayStation Network is down for the time being, we won't be able to sign into Steam when playing on the PS3. Trophies can still be earned while offline, and updated to our profile later. However, will Steam Achievements be updated when the trophies are synced, or are they only unlocked when earned? If the former, the I'll feel free to play some Portal 2 without apprehension of do-overs. If the latter, I'll hold off for the time being. Maybe catch up on my Pokémans (which their online service, the Global Link, finally went up about ten days ago).

I've also been waiting for PSN to operate again. I refuse to continue playing the Portal 2 campaign until I'm able to link my Steam Community profile with my Playstation user account in case achievements aren't synced when I sign back in.

Oh, I undoubtedly will (I'll wanna go after the cheevos I didn't find on my own), but I'd be bothered by a discrepancy in times and order. :/

16.5 hours downtime on the PSN

i too dont want to play until i can link my psn account with y steam account.

You think they'd be able to solve the problem sooner. Or at least give us some brief information about the entire issue. I want to play co-op, man. And whatever's going on is preventing me from doing that. Give me something to smash.

I love playing games over again. I did that with Portal. Will happily do it with Portal 2.

I think the Steam achievements will show up on your profile after PSN is back up.. right now since PSN is down, I've been playing SP, but every time I get a trophy I periodically check the SELECT and achievements tab and it shows the same amt of achievements as it does trophies.

I'm kinda worried if the hackers stole info off of PSN, if they MIGHT have access to our Steam login/ac♥♥♥♥ information since the hackers apparently got all our personal info.. Are our Steam accounts safe?

Steam Is separate frOm Pam so I doubt it.
They will have your Psn login though...

When the service is up again
There will be a system update which requires you to change your password

Well, you can't be too careful, I just changed my Steam password anyway. It's a good habit to change passwords every 60-90 days, anyways.
