When I play the files on a preview, they usually cut out short. Is there any way to fix this?

You navigate to the vpk file using 'GCFScape' (Press the open button in the top left)
That opens it for you. As for CONVERTING the files, you have to first extract the files, then find a good converter that will pick them up and use them. The issue is, some of the files are EXTREMELY short (1 second long), and most media players fail at playing them, and most converters therefore fail at recognising them. |
