No air drag?
Why is their no air drag?
If there were air drag, any objects falling into a planar portal and coming out from another planar portal would not constantly oscillate between the portals (like it is in the game), but instead perform a damped oscillation and then stay hovering exactly between both portals. |

Oh for Pete's sake, I've seen a lot of nitpicking but applying laws of physics and friction to a video game is going a little far.
Then you might as well ask: "Why doesn't Gordon Freeman ditch Alyx and hook up with Chell instead since she's so much better looking?"

Clearly the OP forgot to account for the fact that the gravitational pull between the two sides of the portal causes the box or object caught in it to experience two different forms of gravity, negating the effects of any aerial slowdown.
