Idea for a Portal 3 that doesn't feel too contrived(Hopefully)

Not that we need a Portal 3 any time soon. But after Half Life 3, Team Fortress 3, and a healthy amount of DLC, why not? The thing is, it'd be pretty stupid to just have GLaDOS do a 180 and kidnap Chell for more testing. So:


Begin game with Chell on her death-bed. Play the last few lines of "Still Alive," then cut to black. Then BAM: You wake up with GLaDOS staring at you. She tells you she let you have your life, but just couldn't allow your kick the bucket just yet. So she's offering you a brand new android body. If you use it to do a few things for her.

Then she opens the walls, and you're in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE. I'm kidding. Or maybe not. Could be interesting.

Fair point. Actually, come to think of it the whole montage would probably be pretty cheesy. I'll edit that out.

All that matters is that she dies. I can't see any other reason for her to come back, anyways.

Was that referring to the Space part? Because that was more of a joke. Although it does seem like GLaDOS to launch the entire center into orbit.

1. Team Fortress 3 isn't going to come for a long time (10 years)
2. I don't think any Portal fans are going to like Chell as an android
3. Why would she be testing the Portal gun in space where there no gravity (think about it)

1. That's about how long it should be till Portal 3.
2. Maybe a cloned body? Or GLaDOS could "freshen up" your current one. I just think being half-robot could lead to some interesting gameplay concepts.
3. Again, wasn't really serious about that. But in a world of lasers and excursion beams, artificial gravity is easy. Or GLaDOS could send her to the moon.

the only thing with a prequel is, how can they add "new" mechanics to the game, since, we should have already tested them all. The only way it would work to have new mechanics, is if those ones were scrapped before Portal 1, which to me, doesn't sound that great. Although from Portal 1 to Portal 2 they did get rid of the Energy Ball. But still.
