You are playing on unranked servers.

Or someone is specifically deleting your data on the BC2 master server. I find that unlikely though.

The points you receive in unranked servers will still go toward unlocks and ranking up, but once you leave the server it's not permanently saved.
Not sure if you were being rude, or genuinely thanking me at the end there.

Ahh, well make sure you have that checkmark in the Ranked button in the server filters. You'll never have this issue again

The game is running in DX 9 mode. In DX 9 you cannot increase the AA.

You need a DX10+ card to run in higher modes, and default configuration normally selects this for you (even if the PC struggles to handle it). As such you probably have a DX 9 graphics card.

I had to settle for the same with my old card :/ Tis annoying but at least you are playing at a reasonable resolution so hopefully the jaggies are not too bad.

at 1920 x 1080 I barely notice jaggies unless I actually stop and look for them anyway...

Why you would need 8xaa on that is beyond me. 4x should be more than enough.

yeah I normally use 4x, unless the fps is still over 60 at higher settings. That said, I suppose it all depends on the size of the monitor being used. I wouldn't really want to use anything larger than 24" (which 4x is fine for my eye sight!) for games like this anyways.

You dont really need AA at 1920x1080. It sounds like it would impact your FPS too much anyway if Dx10/11 is unplayable.

AA is selective in BC2 anyway, so it doesn't make that much of a difference. Things like the player's gun get AA, but distant hills and objects, and some close objects won't get AA.
So you get the performance hit of AA, but you still get jaggies.

At 1920x1080 anything over 4x is a waste though, and even 4x is kind of overkill.

Overall BC2 is quite poorly optimized for PC's. They apparently spent a little more time on Vietnam though, as it runs significantly better than the vanilla game.

Also you'd better plan on getting a new PC, or at least upgrading your graphics card (and OS if you have XP) if you want to play Battlefield 3. It's DX10/DX11 only.

I play at 1920x1200 and the aliasing is very noticeable.
