Atmosphere

I realize a lot of fans felt let down by atmosphere and I get that, I'm not gonna say you're wrong.

But I'm definitely not amongst them. I never get tired of walking around in Aperture, there's something seriously wrong with me. The dialogue never gets old and just the general look of everything is.. fantastic, it just feels so good playing this game... You really just get a fuzzy feeling walking around in it.

I can't be the only fan that's incredibly impressed with this.

No, you're not!
I loved the huge environment to walk around.
And replay value to me is high.

The only thing which really hurts me is GLaDOS as a potato... it's really hard to endure that.

At least it wasn't cake. That would have been crossing the line a bit.
Anyway, I love the lower part of Aperture. Very atmospheric, and quite creepy. Brings back memories of my first playthrough of Portal 1. You don't really have that empty and alone feeling in Portal 2 except for the beginning and the bowels of Aperture.

I love the atmosphere in all the game, but I especially love the way it felt at the beginning of the old Aperture section. Completely and totally alone in a dangerous abandoned factory, where no one (not even AI) have been for years. It's a feeling similar but different (in a good way) than the first game.

Then I found GLaDOS and was grateful for her company. Maybe that was the point.

I agree, definitely felt some hairs stand on end walking around the old aperture labs

I didn't really see that many people complaining about the environment. Mostly it was the Portal elitists complaining about difficulty levels. While I am an expert at Portal, I can still appreciate a well-designed puzzle.

But more to the point: I agree, great atmosphere throughout.

Funny; everyone seems to like the Cave Johnson era of Aperture Science. Me, I liked Chapters 8 + 9 the most, atmosphere-wise, as that gave me the old 'puzzling at Aperture Laboratories' feel back: clean, bright and crisp testing chambers.

The only time atmosphere falls down is when Wheatly opens his mouth (but not always).

This!

Funny, isn't it? She tries to kill you, to get rid of you, and actually you are happy to see her.
In the second part I was even proud to be some sort of a complice to her against Wheatley.

Two times in the game I was forced to push THE button.
Funny, I was totally absolutely willing to push it immediately the second time.
But not the first...
The story is messing with our minds... I like this.

@CWHunt456: GLaDOS as a cake? Oh no... OK, I get it, it is all a matter of perspective.

The lesser of two evils. If chosing between a familiar and an unfamiliar evil most people will choose the familiar every time.

Also, Wheatley never promised us cake. That monster.
