The water effects in this game make me hot under the collar.
I fully expect to have a completely enjoyable time playing this game, but I just want you guys to know I bought this game SOLELY for the water effects.
I'm such a snob when it comes to water in video games. It's the worst thing ever when a game has beautifully rendered water, that doesn't react when you touch it. (I'm looking at you, Dragon Age, Lord of the Rings Online, Aion Online, Borderlands, etc.) I don't own an xbox, but I watched the trailers, the previews, and everything I could possibly absorb about this game, from the E3 demos to text previews, everything. Why? Water effects. Anyway, just saying thanks for finally making this game multiplatform. I can't wait to get off work today and play it. |

The water is fun!
It's almost like a co-op partner.![]() You can use it as a shield or a weapon.

I can already tell you, the first half-hour (After I make it to a significant amount of water) is going to be spent playing in it, like a child in a rain puddle.

If I could suggest anything, it'd be a "physics playground" sorta like Red Faction's Glass House.
Just a series of rooms with water and objects in them, that I could play around with, without risk of dying by enemies or electricity or whatever. |

OP have you played Age of Conan?
I can't think of a single game which has such incredible water effects. |

I'm RIDICULOUSLY picky when it comes to water, though. My first bit of snobbishness was when I was playing Phantasy Star Online on the gamecube, doing a run through the beach level, when I saw the water effects were WAY, WAY better than the dreamcast version's- they included spray, splashes, and ripples, and it was wonderful. The Xbox version did NOT include these effects, nor did the PC version (Blue Burst). I was upset. Beyond Good and Evil had good water effects as well- the waves actually made your ship bob and float in the water. Recent games have really bugged me when it comes to water- Crysis, for example, has great-looking water. Problem is, it's scripted. Objects either bob on the water or they don't, and nothing you do affects the waves or anything. Sigh. |

I pretty much pre ordered this from seeing the trailer with the pretty water effects, they look awesome. The only other game I can think of that has water that looks as good is possibly Bioshock 2, but eh, thats pretty much 90% of the games environment, and I'm looking forward to hydrophobia a lot more than I ever did for Bioshock.
