"AppID is not configured"

Alright, so here is the issue:

I start up the game, and immediately a dialog box pops up that says "AppID is not configured. The game then goes to the main menu and the two options to choose from are "No Steam" and "Quit." The "No Steam" button doesn't do anything when I click on it. FRUSTRATING.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
