RESTRICTION: Disallowed program/driver [125119]
I keep getting a RESTRICTION: Disallowed program/driver [125119] error from punkbuster EVERY time I connect to a game server.
I've tried the website and google and the only thing I found about this was that PB doesn't like Fraps or Xfire. And I use neither. Which is the same as the guy who posted the problem on the article in which I found this info. After going through several pages though they mentioned programme after programme that can cause conflict and I run none of them. Well, I do run one programme. Infact the only programme I use and he used that people were blaming, was Steam. And this is the only difference between he and I, he bought the discs and I bought them from Steam (This weekend). So I don't know how the hell Steam could be stopping the game from working, but that's the name that crops up under every list of programmes to switch off before running. So I'm thinking that I've threw money down the drain on a single player only version of an online game. And playing with bots gets old. I did find one other thing about how running old versions of PB can cause problems but unless there's been a new version of PB released since Monday when launching BF2 for the first time installed and updated PB on my system, then I don't see how that could be it. So has anyone had and resolved this problem? |

I would try manually updating PB, just in case. Couldn't hurt to try.
http://www.evenbalance.com/ This also seemed to help others with the same problem. http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com....Detail&id=107 Last edited by H E X E N: 05-11-2011 at 04:07 AM. |

Well when I've checked via that updates link you sent, I had everything bar 1 tiny link installed with the updaters auto update, so hopefully that's fixed it. Here goes nothing.

All it's done is change the error code to 125083.
So time to google that and see if there's a different fix. It's a good thing this was less than £4, I'd be livid had I paid full price, lol. |

Deactivate the steam overlay.
Right click -> Uncheck "Activate Steam Community In-Game" ...Play. |

First try to update Punkbuster.
If that doesn't help you will have to disable Steam Overlay (right click on game in your Library -> Properties -> tab General - uncheck "Enable Steam Community in game"). The problem is Punkbuster thinks Steam Overlay is some kind of cheating application because Steam uses application injection techniques to make the overlay part of the game. However while I had to disable the overlay in COD4 I had no reason to in BC2. |

I appreciate this post, and those who have responded. I was also getting the error message (and getting kicked off), and had no idea why. I went ahead and disabled the Steam Community feature, and sure enough the game seems to work fine - and by fine of course I mean getting my noobie butt kicked all over the place. But the fact that I'm able to stay in the game long enough to get my butt kicked is a vast improvement then just imagining I'm getting my butt kicked.
So again, I thank you. |

Just disable the steam overlay and it will fix the issue.

BF2 is an OLD game, and steam overlay didn't even exist when it was released, so it's incompatibility makes sense. Not too hard to fix either.
