WARNING login required to third party DRM for this game

This product requires a log-in to the Kalypso Media third party DRM service to allow you to play the game! Why do developers do this when steam should be all the DRM they need.

Had i know this i would not of paid for the game. Is this not miss-selling under UK law?

It's not third party, it's the company itself. And it's built into the game. Please learn the definition of third party DRM.

It's important to note the difference when a company just wants you to log in to activate your serial number and when a program installs a bunch of DRM on your computer without telling you.

Also you didn't even try seeing what happens if you try to start the game offline did you? You may need to activate your serial number first, but the game just starts without asking to log in if you're offline.

as far as I'm concerned as a steam user third party is relative to steam so in this context i am referring to any software other than that which is part of the steam API's.

Oh and yes i did try and launch the game without the log-in and it will not let you without signing up for an account, which you then have to log into each time you run the game. It was the point that you have to have an account other than the steam account that i object to.

Feels like mountains are made out of mole hills here , its not that big a deal imo . It doesnt run an extra application next to the game or anything on my PC .

I was also interested in this until I saw this thread. I am glad I checked the forum first! Having to make an account for a game like this in addition to Steams DRM is dumb.

I do not buy any game that requires activation, limited installs, a connection to the internet when it is not required for actual game-play or the creation of an account purely for DRM purposes. The only exception to any of this is the Steam platform. Any other DRM in addition to Steam causes me to automatically pass on any game. C:\soapbox.exe -stepdown

It does not ask you to log in at launch when you are offline, you're just straight lying about that. I've tested it. You have to activate your CD key at least one time.

Activate it once and you can play offline all you want.

Its a shame there are quite a few DRM Apologists out there. Additional DRM on Steam is inexcusable.

You know, you all act like Steam is the golden god of game protection when there are just as many pirated steam games as any other.

This along with co-op with friends supposedly requiring a Facebook account is pretty much pushing me to a no-buy (or maybe a $5 buy many many months from now).
