Witcher 2 Release

Hello All,

I just wanted to pop in and give you a head's up on the Witcher 2 Release happening in a little bit.

We got the build of the game quite late--only a few hours ago, in fact. Currently, I'm pushing it out to over half of our content servers around the world, but the game is pretty big (around 17GB) so getting it to the servers is taking quite a while. The practical upshot of this is that downloads are going to start out really slowly, but over the next several hours it will improve greatly.

Our apologies for this. I'm afraid it can't be helped. I might delay setting it live slightly so that I can get it to more servers before flipping the switch, but I'm hoping I wont need to do that.

Best,
Chris

Great - thanks for the info. Also thanks for the info on Securerom in the other thread. These two things taken together mean I will probably leave it for a week or so and check again.

thanks for the info but once again we're screwd by Steam, unable to play on the day of release... In France it's around 9am, the game is still unavailable for download and I guess It'll be like that at least several hours, then we'll have to DL 17gb wich even with a good connexion will take hours... And you say that the DL will start Slowly at first...

Seriously what are we paying for ?

Great to hear the update Chris! Yeah, CD Projekt Red seems to have as much a fetish for cleavage as they do massive sized game files.

Would love to see this answered. Can I stay home and wait for a download soon or should I go for 10 hours and come back tonight?

Well, thanks for the info, hope we can manage to get some decent speeds. Anyway, it may be better starting the download tomorrow altogether...

Did you read how they got the build just a few hours ago? Meaning that CDProject or Atari are the ones who didn't get the game to Steam till a couple of hours ago.

So when we can download or pre-load the game? Can you give use an ETA? Thanks.

I'm thinking I'll probably be able to set it live within the next two hours, but it really just depends on how long it takes the servers to pick up the files. Right now, it's only up on three servers and they're all in Seattle, so setting it live would simultaneously peg all of the Seattle servers and cause most everyone to get error messages when trying to download the game.

I'll keep you posted.
