Unhappy Left 4 Dead 2 download issue

The other day L4D2 was crashing (rather, silently exiting) at the main menu. Nothing worked so I figured reinstalling couldn't hurt.

I was wrong. After backing up L4D2, deleting local content and then restoring it, it believed there was 1.3MB left to download and refused to download it.

I've tried deleting the NCFs, switching content servers, verifying cache integrity, running Steam with elevated priviliges, removing Read-Only on SteamApps and even re-deleting and re-restoring to no avail.

L4D2's status is currently 'Updated paused', on the downloads page it's 'Suspended'. Attempting to launch gives me a "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time" message.

Anything else I ought to try before re-downloading all 11GB of awesome?

I assume you've deleted both the *.blob files in the Steam directory? To the best of my knowledge, that's where Steam keeps the download status cached.

You could also try doing things in this order. Sometimes it's helped me with issues like this. Try deleting all local content, start downloading it again, exit Steam, replace content, start Steam and resume download.

Yes, I also tried killing AppUpdateStats.blob and ClientRegistry.blob.

I'll try the content replacing now.

Do the blob files at the same time.

don't think this will work but i've found if you have other source games downloading some games won't finish downloading until the others are complete.

E.g. Garry's mod and half-life 2 sometimes will stop at 98% until tf2 or the like is completed.

Though i think L4d2 is updated independently from them so yeah.

Left 4 Dead 2 has no dependencies.
