How to move a chest?

So I need to re-model my house and the chests are in the way. Is there a way I can move them without having to destroy them or every single item spilling out?

Thanks.

No, only empty chests can be moved around.

Only was is to put the new chest where you want it and swap the items from the old chest into your inventory and then into the new one before removing if you don't have enough inventory space.

This is not entirely true.
Firstly, chests can only be moved if they are empty.
Secondly, you can remove a chest from wherever you placed it by using a Hammer on it. It will not destroy the chest, you will be able to pick up the chest at this point by walking near it.

Same goes for chests you find in the wilds, if you CBF making your own, just find one in a cavern somewhere and ninja it
