Weeks isn't good enough, though I doubt there is a chance of a ban.

This is wrong, Counterstrike:Source is also on the Orange Box Engine, CS:GO will use the updated Orange Box Engine which is used in Portal 2 therefore when it is released a ban on Counterstrike:Source may also affect CS:GO.

Might want to remove that for now.

I cannot seem to find the source anymore, but I thought that since L4D, VAC bans are applied only to each individual game and not the engine itself. So a ban in CS:S should not affect CS:GO.

EDIT: Nevermind, CTRL ALT DEL! has done a wonderful job and posted the link on the first page. So yeah, you should be okay to play CS:GO if you have a CS:S ban on file.

Thumbs up

IMO this is a very informative and Community oriented thread and should be "stickied".

It may deserve to be a sticky, but as a floating 5 star thread it think it gets read more often I think. As long as it gets a bump before it goes to page 2 all is good.

This is even wrong-er.

CS:GO uses an updated Portal 2 engine, which follows the Left 4 Dead branch of Source Engine, not the Source 2007/2009 branch.

Additionally, all VAC-enabled games since and including Left 4 Dead are isolated in regards to VAC bans, i.e. a ban in that game does not affect any other VAC-enabled game.

I presume microphone effects via sound drivers are completely safe (when then using in-game voice)?

Is it possible to add daemon and virtual drive programs to the o.k. with vac list? Would have been a huge help for me to be able to see.

Wrong it is using the Portal 2 Engine, ofc it is a modified version of this as it is a different game. You seem to of just copy catted my response which makes no sense.
