Let's talk Werner Herzog and Nosferatu.
Here's the happy opening credits.
'I was passing by the spring. There I met a beautiful woman with a jug on her shoulder. I spoke a word to her and she left, offended. I was passing by the spring.' is used to good effect in a chilling Danse Macabre scene. If this clip of the arrival of Nosferatu's boat doesn't grab you, then there's not much hope for you. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/nosferatu_the_vampyre/ |

There are tons of good remakes worth watching. Even some good spoofs.

I saw Kaspar Houser, listened to Canon in D at the beginning, started listening to classical and that helped me ace the music section of my world history class

Werner Herzog's Nosferatu is my favourite movie poster. I used to have a framed copy at one time. Good movie but I like his Aguirre: The Wrath of God better.

I love how the actors gestures and expressions are ott dramatic and theatrical like they are in the original due to the fact that was the style back then. In the modern version it adds an element of noir.
The music for that boat arriving says it all. |

I've seen Fitzcarraldo and have Cat People on DVD too but the film quality of my DVD is poor. If you are fan of the Kinskis then you must see Aguirre and Polanski's Tess of the D'Urbervilles (sp?), if you haven't already.

Another good remake.
I have yet to actually watch any Nosferatu films, even though I really want to, but I do think that he's (it's?) the best vampire, mainly because he's both iconic and doesn't sparkle. |

Didn't Werner Herzog manage the Royals and the Cardinals?
