RFA - Dissapointing length

I finished the game just a few minutes ago and I have to say.. the length is very dissappointing. I remember completing a few missions and looking at the story completed percentage and saying, "What the hell, 25% already?" I thought it may just have been me kicking and taking names, but apparently not. After I finished the game I looked at my steam and saw that I had spent 6 hours on the game...

I completed the game on Normal mode, and I did not rush through it, I took plenty of time scavenging for... scavenge. Anyways I don't want this post to turn into a review, so I'll just wrap it up by saying that the game was extremely short and has very little replay value. Still, I spent 50 bucks and I'm not going to waste my money, so I'm going to go ahead and try out the multiplayer for a while.

Thanks for your input. Just started RF:G and it's way awesome... the open world, AI, physics, firefights, missions. I wanted to get Armageddon as well (and will eventually) but a 6 hours of linear 3rd person shooter? I'll wait until it drops below 5 €, no matter the technical excellence.

It's really not that short. If you play through the whole thing in a sitting, sure, it'll feel short, but RF:G is a similar length, if you're not intent on dicking around for 10 hours knocking over buildings.

I loved RF:G, but I was a little bummed that it wasn't an FPS. After playing I understood why they went 3rd person because the wider angle of view was needed to see all the destruction falling around you. I haven't played Armageddon, but all the trailers I've seen looks like the game would play better as a corridor FPS (like the original games). Again I haven't played the game, but there doesn't seem to be many open areas where things are going to be crumbling down on you from all angles. Still interested in the game, but I'll be waiting for the price to drop.

indeed, the SP game is too short and yes RFG was too but at leats the sandbox environment and all teh sidequest made it longer and those are thigns we dont have in RFA.

I also feel sad the only MP mode we have is co-op, I would love to see the old school PvP modes we had with RFG.

I love RF:A. It's exactly as advertised in the demos. I do know that there are lots of people that claim to not have rushed through a game but in fact do so compared to how I take my time going through a game. So I only go by my time meter. I'm an old school gamer and I WALK SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY and look everywhere. For me lots of replayabilty in the game but that's me.

Funny - the subject line of this post looks the same as the subject line of many of the emails that come into my inbox.

what ?? just 9 hours campaign ? are they as intensive like- lets say, metro2033 ?? this looks like some "ghosts of mars" - game... could be cool - but it must be really good to justify this short length. i wont pay for multiplayer only.

Thank you!

This post helped me make my mind up, I won't be purchasing at full retail, guess this one goes on the backburner like bulletstorm, homefront and well, basically every frickin new game out lately. I don't pay. They only game I just bought was Witcher 2 and that was only 39.99, came with a hard copy manual, bonus DVD and soundtrack, thats a deal!

NO SALE!

edit- oh yea, I got suckered in with Crysis 2 I admit, wish I had waited on that one too. Not enough game for too much money.

Satisfying girth, disappointing length.

Ok I'm not really contributing am I?

I just know I love(d) RF Guerilla, but after AMD/ATI decided to screw it over with their 11.3 (and onwards) drivers, it is now a lagfest of biblical proportions. It used to run supersmooth with no fps lag what so ever - no matter how much destruction surrounds you.

Obviously I won't roll back to an old driver just because of 1 game. I just wish RadeonPro would be able to use older drivers - separated from the installed drivers.

I have 5 hours in RFA and am 38% through the story according to the in-game counter. Seems right to me. Also I have less than half the campaign achievements.

The further I get in this game the more I like it. The enemies are actually challenging for a change and that's on easy. I always play on easy the first run though of a game though so I can goof off and look around. I'm actually having to do a little work this time.

I had 26% I believe and 3 hours when I started her up last time so the games going to be 8-10 hours for me first run through which is fine and almost double the average these days. Of course old school 15-18 even 20 would have been even better.
