Bugs are ironed out and there's some new guests, i think it runs better + there's framerate cap in the options, game have been rebalanced though difficulty still has its spikes which causes you to pull your hair off. If you have played original eco draconis and expansion then i don't think you need this.

I was wondering this too. I played and completed Ego Draconis when it first came out.
What exactly has been "remastered"? Are there large gameplay changes or is it just better textures, new engine, less bugs and other tweaks. And how much new content is there? Just a few side quests or completely new areas? It's weird. ED and FoV both have a Metacritic score of 72, DKS has 82. What is there to justify a 10 point increase? The Witcher went from 81 to 86 with Enhanced Edition. Most praise I've read for DKS is "it's a hardcore RPG", "totally mature" or "you get to be a dragon". Yes.... just like in Ego Draconis. The actual differences between games are described as "it's just better okay", "polished" or some other vague nonsense. |

Well that's just it. Compared to Ego Draconis, there are practically zero bugs in the entire game that's a fault of the game itself, and there have been several tweaks regarding gameplay balance, mostly with regards to item positioning and the Flying Fortresses.

There's removed bugs, the difficulty curve got smoothed out by no longer factoring level as heavily into damage (before, enemies one level above yours were a considerable challenge, and enemies one level below yours were a cakewalk). Also, the engine improvements, which improved specular maps and texture rendering, as well as getting rid of the framerate cap (with a patch that came afterward) and redistributing the unique loot in the game so that it could be found without needing to tromp through the Flying Fortresses, plus making the Flying Fortresses themselves mostly optional.
Ego Draconis was decent but the points taken off from it were because it was considerably rocky on release. With the additional performance, removed bugs and redesigned levels and balance, it plays significantly better. |

Difference in score could also be attributed to the DKS edition simply receiving less reviews(?).
I picked up DKS last time it was $20, and, personally, I put in about 35 hours for ED and an additional 9 for the FOV expansion...only because I wanted to do that old human thing of "getting my money's worth." Neither game was anything special, with the expansion being a bit more enjoyable, IMO. It really felt like a single-player World of Warcraft in gameplay, with sloppy dialogue/storytelling and a bunch of (mostly) unfunny jokes. I don't think I'd really recommend it unless you just want a forgettable time-killer. /uncalled-for opinion piece. There's absolutely no indication of character sex (until the expansion(?)) in the game, too. My female ranger had the option of hitting on every lass and wench and damsel in distress to be found--in the manliest way possible, to boot. |
