Make a steam gift cards!

Hey!
I've googled around a little bit could find a answer.
Why isn't there a Steam gift card. Yes I know you can send gift to other but I want a gift card so the friend I'm sending it to can choose by him self.

Also, if steam make gift cards, make so you can buy them in ordinary stores and not only through steam!

/Eric

(sorry for my bad english)

I agree that we should be able to gift funds from our Steam wallet to friends, but Steam gift cards sold in store wouldn't work. Every country has some sort of prepaid or reloadable credit card that works on Steam. For example, in Canada we have Vanilla Visa and Vanilla Mastercards in 25, 35, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 dollar denominations.

After thinking a while, prepaid Steam-labeled cards would be cool. You know, it's a perfect way to lure the retail-browsers to Steam.
On the other hand, that might be THE reason Valve don't do that, it seems like they're afraid of starting a war versus retailers.

Well, just publish these cards. This way, retail shops would get their fair cut of Steam sales and maybe shut the hell up.

You end up spending more though
For my 50 Vanilla card it was 4.95 ontop of the 50.

I actually thought that after Valve came out with the steam wallet, that they would come out with these.

Why not? You'd make more money, just pay for a predetermined amount maybe $10, $25, and $50. Go on Steam and type in the activated code and it gets added to your wallet, easy.
