Exclamation Casual Gamers these days ...

We are all middle-aged gamers with kids more than likely older than most of the current crop of casual gamers frequenting the gaming world at the moment, and after a hard days work (we have to to pay taxes to keep the current crop of casual gamers who just don't seem to want to got to work bless 'em) we like to put our hands deep in our pockets and buy ourselves dedicated servers to play on ... we have been doing this for a few years in other games too because if we don't, who will eh? We did try this console malarchy thing but got tired of aiming at some guy in the distance only to find in the next frame he was actually back-stabbing us. We even open the doors to our servers to the general public and sadly, this is where our problems start sometimes.

There isn't a moment goes by when you don't see an expletive or insult on-screen spewed from the finger-tips of the "private or hasn't yet made a profile" casual gamer. We ask the casual gamer to be polite, "just act as if you would a person in the street" we say but no, this just fuels the fire of the casual gamer and an SMS-text like acronym flame-war ensues. We have no option but to enforce a ruleset in an attempt to keep order and not antagonise the regular gamers we have had on our servers for ages (and friends we have made over many years) ... no weapon rules or perk rules, everything goes on our servers but the ruleset is just a reminder of etiquette and how to behave on the server (not even a no swearing rule, the game is 18+, we aren't folks parents) ... in fact, our only rule per se is "No Whining".

Will the casual gamer abide by our simple rules? Sadly no, he will tell us to all fornicate with ourselves and threaten us with a DDOS attack, "I haz ur filez" and will come in our sleep and pillage our barns and women and if you ban him? Well he will come to the interwebs and make new topics in every forum on the interwebs except the contact website forum provided in the server messages or available through steams recent player list, telling these forums how noobish admins are today.

Well I'm off. I need my favourite cardigan re-buttoned and probably should have a lie-down.

I agree, however being one myself I don't really seem to ever get into arguments.

Suppose it depends on the person. I see plenty of angry gamers out there.

I agree with it all and it made me laff. +1

I came across one of these casual players on my server last night, he was being very abusive to others, after several polite warnings from myself he then started on me saying somthing along the lines of "I hope all your kids get cancer". now i do have a couple young children at home and as a father this upset me a bit.
So i decided enough is enough and opened my rcon tool and kicked the guy with the message "kicked for being abusive to others" (I am not one for banning people as it gives them a chance to come back on and maybe apologise)

After a minute or two the guy decided to rejoin the server, now this is the funny thing he asked why he was kicked, so after trying to explain to him in words he may understand he then said i was a dumb admin and should be reported, so after a few lol and lmao from some of the regulars on the server he typed up a few words i wont repeat here and left the server.

Thing is if someone in the street came upto me and said what he said to me do you think i would thank him, i dont think so do you

He is right but what you call casual gamers and say that most are kids, you would be surprised to see that most of the immature actions in any server are in fact from the so called "Adult" players.

in fact and also, I see a lot of the so called Server Admins. kick other players just cause they are good or cause they got lucky in a game or cause they have a different play style, and this Adults or server right owners , are mostly kids that have a granted weak money from their fathers and there they are so powerful that they think they can ruin the damn MP ( that is bad already) with some more idiot actions .

Thought, you are right and your thread is a good word of attention this is the fact mate..
Salute..

this isnt something new it has always been this way. for some reason there are just some people(not always kids) that feel the need to act like total a-holes while on the internet. sometimes they can get very annoying just have to do your best to ignore them

Just yesterday I got a guy that was on the enemy team in various Hardcore TDM games that I killed a lot cause I was lucky or either he was worst then myself playing...lol in the last match the guy was on my team and what has he done?

Walking around me every single moment aiming me and shooting from my side trying to annoy me and ruin my game play he got me killed 3 or 4 times cause I didn't wanted to shoot him down cause he was a team mate and the server had a rule of 3 team kills instant kick
so he was moving around me all the time putting himself in my line of fire...

I eventually killed him by accident one time and left the game at the end cause of this idiot.

What does this have to do with a gamer being casual? I've seen a lot of so-called hardcore gamers behaving awfully or admins who kick or ban for "bunny-hopping" which isn't even possible in this game. You've just described a-hole gamers and it doesn't matter whether they're casual or hardcore, they're just behaving badly.

I am with the OP, I work, in fact I work damn hard, I have kids a mortgage and bills to pay and yes my eldest son is about to get married and YES I pay the bill for our Clan servers and YES it annoys me too that people think they can be abusive and then come here and whine and make out like they are innocent victims.

Keyboard warriors is what they are don't matter their age or demographic (though i could point some fingers) the point remains the same.......gaming ain't the way it used to be.

The whole idea that you can bad mouth, trash talk or whatever is a new thing, its like people forget to engage their brain before they spout or rant off at people with expletive after expletive.

I find it amusing that the 'new' gamers want P2P not servers thinking its a better system, or that they will be somehow be imune to being kicked or hacked, failing to see that well maintained servers with good admin can keep a game clean and running for longer...... thats without throwing in the modding community that seems to have been used, abused and thrown away like a oil stained rag.
