current download rate: 0 bytes/s

2 and a half hours with a 5mbps connection and the game is at 13%. almost always with the 0 bytes/s transfer rate when i look at the steam downloads window. i have pre ordered a few games on steam including dirt 3 and duke nukem and didnt have this problem. apparently way more people thought this game to be worth $25 than steam expected.

Steam is getting hammered with the big sale, if you open settings you can change your download region, choose a country where traffic should be low at this time eg: Germany etc.

Usually this is true, but somehow it's still crawling here now, even tho most ppl should be asleep. Try some other location, guess US/UK/Germany might be the most populated areas, so not these.

Tell me about it, game is crawling down at 600-800kb/sec on a 100mbit connection. It should be 12mb/sec so its a huge difference.

Why cant Steam let us chose between direct download or torrent technology?
Torrent would be much faster for full duplex connections while direct download would be better for DSL connections.

Dunno what just happen but Steam just began downloading from scratch, it was at 74% when it happen lol.

Happened to me too. Restart Steam and it should continue where it left off.

I just let it restart, went to bed as I figured server was overloaded by the downloadings going on during summer sale event.

Was worth waiting for tho, this game is great.

switching to the german server gave me slower but at least steady download. and i have to agree this game is awesome. i have an amd 3ghz dual core 4gb of cheap ram and an old stock single 8800 gts and this game runs without any lag on high settings
