Can't view movies?
Just tried the demo on my laptop and the FMV sequences don't work.
What I assume is the FMV developer logo just displays a static image of some arrows pointing to the right. What I assume is the demo start movie just plays music while showing a black screen. Any help with this? Does it happen in the demo and the full game? The game itself seems to run flawlessly. Running: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Core i3 M350 @ 2.27ghz Integrated graphics 4gb RAM (can't try it on desktop right now) |

I have the same problem with the full game. There's sound but no video during cutscenes. I've tried just about all possible combinations of the preferences.ini options mentioned in other threads but nothing seems to work. Very frustrating.
Laptop specs: Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Intel Core i5 2.3 GHz Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics Has anyone managed to get the cutscenes to play with Intel integrated graphics? |

I'm having the same problem on my laptop with a Geforce GT 550M that can be toggled on or off.
However, some people fix this by setting their battery power setting to "High performance." |

Yup guys looks like its a bug from the huge sale or somethin dang.
Too many people downloading and old file who knows. Or just the 5 of us who bought it hah Running Window's Vista, laptop, intel duo core, Nvida Play all sorts of games, somethin is just up with this one, its shame cause I was freakin loving the talking spirit and the mother story, but no movies. So I was just messing with the Nvidia 3D setting since this game is just 3d polygons.
I set it to let the application decide what quality type, and the movies showed up. But it also crashed my computer so Im gonna try again right now and see how it goes. So it is definitely something to do with the video card and 3d settings, gonna tinker around. Just checked out the bottom of the forum http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=558693 This might be our answer. We all fail at reading hah Last edited by Lagato158: 07-08-2011 at 08:56 PM. |

Hey, downloaded the game on steam sale today, have the same problem
on my laptop, windows 7 nvidia gt325m graphics, the movies dont show just the sound. I got it working by setting the power management profile of my laptop on high as was suggested in this forum: http://forums.longestjourney.com/showthread.php?t=8708 ![]() Hopefully it helps for you too! |

Thats weird, I also run on W7 x64, all else I can say is that when running the game it does not switch to the nvidia graphics card, it runs fine on the intel integrated one.

videos and gameplay is perfect on my amd ati windows 7 64 bit desktop without having to do anything. But on my sandy bridge laptop, videos play as I only hear sound and no picture. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of incompatibility between the intel graphics chip and bink video. This has happened to me when trying to play other older games using bink as well as on my laptop. Even attempting every solution mentioned by others in various forums, results are the same. Sound but no picture during the cutscenes.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet? I've tried all the fixes mentioned in this thread and other threads in this forum. I've tried applying windows compatibility fixes. I've tried changing the Nvidia settings for this game. No matter what I do, the game runs fine for me except the cutscenes.
Alternatively, can anyone tell me how much of the story I'm missing if I just play it anyway? What do the cutscenes add to the game? Will it still make sense without them? Last edited by SweetNothing: 01-27-2012 at 08:09 AM. |

If I decide to buy the game, I'll report back to say whether the full game works fine too. |
