Thumbs down BBQ Save File - Disqualification

I certainly hope Valve take into account anyone using a save file for the achievement disqualified from winning their wishlist.

I came looking for times and all I see are multiple posts filled with save files, just to win prizes and go into the draw to win their wishlist - on Valve's own forum no less. It is disgusting to see what people will go to for free 'stuff'. I certainly hope there are some rules when it comes to rewarding the winner.

I hope you're proud of yourselves.

I spent an hour shaving off time on my own save file in order to get the achievement. Do you know what my opinion is on the people who used save files?

I.
Don't.
Give.
A.
.

They still had to buy the game, which means that Edmund and Tommy got more money, which is fine with me.

I agree with OP. It's one thing to do it to redeem the somewhat valueless raffle prizes, but cheaters are lessening my chances to win a sweepstakes. That's fraud.

yeah i hate how my odds of winning went down. I had a 0.00000000000000007% chance of winning and now I have a 0.00000000000000006% chance of winning. GRRRRR ::shakes fist::

I admit, I do find it a bit irksome when some of us tried it the legit way. Alas.

In case you're still interested in times, here were mine. Note that you don't need all A+ in the dark world; 5 of my dark levels were under par. You can make it up in light world, especially if you have many characters to pick from. (Flywrench was invaluable, especially on 4-2 Brindle.)

In the fullest sense of the law, fraud is fraud and thus any form of cheating or manipulation is considered illegal.

The problem with persecuting the few who are obvious is that there is a lot of other people, possibly more, who did this as well who will never be found.

Is it fair and just to punish the few for a crime that was perhaps committed by many? I'm not a lawyer so I'm happy I don't have to decide..

I'm deciding, even if I'm not a lawyer, that I don't need to spend more time on this kind of drama.

If people want to cheat in order to have a fast achiev, I can understand that; they didn't need to have a ridiculously hard achiev for newcomers.
That kind of stuff can create a hate for a game (and I prefer that people love this game instead).

I Am already hating Dejobaan for doing a Wonderful End To The World after spending so much time on potatoes.

I think you guys are barking up the wrong tree. Trading save files may be an exploit but it's not cheating. You may be crying about this right now, but what about when we were trying to release Portal 2 with more potatoes? The same methods were used to help among the community, and it was a beautiful thing. While you are crying about the chances to enter the raffle, other people out there are trying to help one another increase everyone's odds. While Super Meat Boy may be your thing, not all games will be, and some achievements may seem out of reach to you, despite the fact that you own the game and try your hardest. What if 70% of the games picked were randomly and unfortunately "not your thing?" You would ask for criminal counts to be brought against those who would help others? Just think about the context of the things you say. Your are literally complaining that Steam's gaming community is TOO nice.

^This.

We still supported the developer. I haven't used the save file yet but getting ready to.

Also I own Magika, Polynomial, Toki Tori and Garshap which are four tickets I can't get because the Steam versions of these games crash or otherwise.

It would be cool to find save files for these.

The main problem is the hard task of getting this achievement. I get it and I let other people get it using my save game which I've modify to erase world 1-3 times.

What's the hell ? World 4 more than A+ ? Really ?

Compair with other games:

Bit Trip Beat: Perfect level 1-1; 5-10 mins
Lead & Gold: OK not possible; you need to get the help of a friend: 5mins.
AAAAAAA: I got this one in 20-25mins.
Toki Tori: World 1(around 15 mins)
Sword & Soldiers HD: Perfect campaign 1 level 3 (around 20mins max)

TF2: 5 mins
Magicka: 30 mins cause you need to get the Rain; but that's EASY
Garshap: 90 mins cause you need to reach to the good level. once you're here, it's realy easy. (and the game ISN't hard)

Defense Grid: This one can be "hard" but you can use walktrough and ask help. That's not a hard game like SMB.
Flight control HD: less than 30 mins; not really hard but you need to unlock the good level.
Polynomial: possible at very begining; less than 5mins to do

M&B Warband: 20mins max. (with a new character)
SSHD: Achievement possible at the very first level in EASY MODE (less than 10minutes needed)
Homefront: 2 chapters
Trine: 5 levels (around 1hour, but really EASY)

SMB: World 4 ; Light + Dark (40 levels to more perfect)

According the world 1 of SMB is harder than any other ticket game, I think it was less stupid to set the achievement to level 1...

How many times it takes to go to Hell ? And to finish Light ? And Dark ? And to get less than 495 for both ? (for a beginner; first time I mean)

What's the hell with this achievement ?!

Everyone has until SUNDAY to do this though, they are just too bloody impatient.

"Oh no, a hard one!"

Just don't do this one then, jesus.

According that some people work, and don't play H24, I don't think you can get enough hours to get this one. It takes me around 3hours to perfectize my times and I played 15hours before.

Not sure that some guy like to get only ONE ticket for around 10% of a week when you can get all others tickets for the same amount of time...

What's the real goal to get the ticket ? Buying the game, no other goal.

I refuse to use the save file, but even so, this achievement has me exceptionally depressed.

I'm currently stuck on 3-7 and I'm not even trying to get decent times in the early worlds.

I'm not entirely sure that when valve organises these events that they expect the achievements to be accessible to a tiny minority of players, but oh well.
