Lightbulb The Steam Sale Wishlist Email Notifier - Version 1

Steam Sale Notifier

NOTE: This is a tool I felt like making for myself and figured I would share it. Maybe if people like it I will try to make it more friendly. I have only tested it on my server.

Summary: This python script will scan your wishlist page for sale prices and send an email to the specified address if it finds sales. Scheduling is not handled by the script, so feel free to use your favorite scheduling method to run it once a day.

Usage (command line): python salev1.py <steam_user_name> <email_address>
for steam name, make sure that this links to your wishlist: http://steamcommunity.com/id/<this is the steam name>/wishlist

Setup: You should modify the OUTGOING email address at the beginning of the script, ie. the line that says "outgoing_email". You need to have a SMTP mail server set up on the machine you run the script on (my linux server had this preinstalled). If you want to use an external SMTP server feel free to modify the script.

Very useful, thanks for sharing. altho it was already in Steam in some sale if I recall correctly... like 'X games from your wishlist are on sale!'

Nice idea.

Steam should already have this option to be notified when wishlist games are on sale.

Seems to work fine (apart from the hard-coded $ currency )

I just found this topic, so i'm sorry for bringing up an old topic like this, but isn't this a good idea for Steam to integrate in the client?
I'd love to make a list of games of which i would get notified if it's on sale.

I doubt they would implement such a feature since they would probably prefer that you purchase games at their full price.

Nice script though. I was thinking of doing something similar but now I don't have to Thanks SirPsychoMantis!
