[Fixed] You have been disconnected from Windows Live....
Hi folks...
Picked up S8:P on the sale a couple of days ago and having completed the campaign I tried it out online last night. Everything was good, except that I found I was getting disconnected from Windows Live with depressing regularity, usually as im face to face with a member of the opposing team and about to let rip with my assault rifle at point blank range. It's not a constant thing and I've been able to finish a few missions, or rejoin existing ones, but obviously it kind of knackers the experience for me a little. Official forums don't really have much to say on the matter so was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same, or seen a fix they'd like to recommend? Running Win 7 pro 64bit, have tried running with firewall disabled but with no effect. Haven't tried the running with windows marketplace open (suggested on the official forums), although I'm pretty sure it fired up when I started the game anyway. Have been experiencing the same problem when playing APB over the last week (As have a number of other apb players), so I'm wondering if maybe punkbuster is killing my connection (will test this theory as soon as i get a chance to uninstall it.) Anyhoos, any ideas welcome. Will update this thread when/if I have news or some clue as to a solution.. Last edited by Cyth: 07-13-2011 at 08:45 AM. |

Sooooo, just tried to contact GFWL support for the UK regarding this issue, (as suggested by the devs) using the number located at:
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US...ntact-Support/ After a 10 minute wait in a queue I explained, as had been suggested on the GFWL tech support forums that I first, politely indicate that I am a GFWL user, rather than an xbox user, but the advisor I'd got through to would only say, repeatedly... "I'm sorry this is the wrong department, we do not make the games, we only support the xbox live service." He then denied the number I'd called was listed on the site and insisted that I'd obviously been directed to the wrong website with the wrong contact details. When I read him the URL I was told "well we aren't the team who make the sites, they got it wrong" I asked to speak to a supervisor regarding this issue, as obviously I just wanted to speak to a technician who could deal with a games for windows live issue and was told he would "try and find someone that could help" After waiting a few minutes of listening to the tech - who obviously thought he'd put me on mute (ooops) - slag me off to his colleagues, he returned to tell me that the number I wanted was the Microsoft Windows (operating system) general enquiries team who are conveniently not around until Monday. When I restated that I wanted to speak to a supervisor about the issue I was told he would "try" to find one, before being put on hold and unceremoniously cut off after 5 minutes. Needless to say, pretty .... annoyed right now. |

Fixed the issue myself after finding out that GfWL likes to spam out fragmented UDP packets.
My router/modem has built in DoS protection, which I had to disable so that it stopped thinking the fragmented packets were a DoS attack. Soon as that was done, the game started running fine. If you're getting spurious GfWL disconnects whilst playing and the usual run of fixes don't sort it out, dive into your modem/router config panel and make sure theres nothing along the lines of a firewall/stateful packet inspector/etc running. |
