alt tab crash - win 7

anyway to get around this? im running it on windows 7 32 bit with the "unoffical" patch installed which seemed to really help a lot with random crashes but alt tabbing still is an guarantee insta crash

The game was ported from xbox to pc so it's always been a bit unstable, and as the game manual states, it wasn't made to be alt-tabbed. There's not really any way around it unless you force the game to run windowed, but it's not a very stable engine sadly. The game has enough trouble trying not to crash when it's working properly as it is.
