Exclamation Game Just Won't start up?

I bought this game today, as it seemed like something i would enjoy. However, after installation, whenever i try to launch Lucid, it just doesnt do anything. I've verified, and its fine. The little steam thing pops up to say its loading the game, then it just never actually loads.

I experience the exact same thing.
I click on the game, my screen goes black, then I'm returned to the desktop without an error message.

The game simply does not start.

Yeah I've also wondered how there's no way to contact the creators as there are no forums or known email address that I can see. Neither the facebook or the twitter seem to be appropriate places for bug reports or discussions of potential problems. Here's hoping they get around to reading this forum eventually.

I have this same problem, and after a bit of research, I think this problem has something to do with the video card being unable to scale the game to a widescreen monitor.

Do you have a widescreen monitor?

I have the same issue, kind of. I bought the game today, and it will bring up the Steam loading screen, then it will act like it is loading the game, but then it will freeze my PC at which point I have to manually power down my PC.

I have the same issue, game loads up then crashes out instantly after the forced credits pop up. Very annoyed

Post Try to "compare notes"

I am sorry that I have to write this but unless all you, that write here in this thread, wants to is to let out Steam then I will have to suggest that you start comparing whatever else you have in common besides "the game won't start".
I suggest that you each feed each other , and the rest of the forum readers with as much, and as exact as possible, information about your computers software and hardware configurations as possible.
I myself have not had any problems with this game.
I uses Windows XP Pro SP3+, Oracle Sun Java, Zone Alarm Firewall, AVG Antivirus (all the metioned up to date , including my DirectX and my Video card drivers).
I uses a not exactly new Pentium D 3.0 GHZ on a Gigabyte Motherboard and a slightly outdated NVidia GPU 9800 GT Graphics card, at present I uses a "small" 19" inch (that's small for me) square cheap multi sync TFT monitor that shows the game in full size. I have played the first 19 levels of the game since yestrday evening when I bought the game.

I figured out a fix for the problem. Go to C:\program files\steam\lucid and right click on the exe, click on compatibility, then check the box for 640x480. Until they post a more permanent fix, this will at least let you get into the game. This worked for me, hopefully it woll work for you as well.
