[GUIDE] How to play custom music in Killing Floor
So, most of the UT2004 players know this, but UT2004 originally had a music player which you could open with F11. It would play Ogg files in a playlist of your choice. So basically, you could play your own music. And this is how I got it to work in KF with some knowledge of the UT2004 engine:
Open up User.ini in the system folder of Killing Floor, and change this: Quote:

And then press F11 anywhere in the game or menus. The GUI will be kind of buggy, though. Just hold your mouse over the buttons and the tooltips will tell you what it is. Kind of funny, Tripwire did work on the GUI, but abandoned it. If anyone really wants it, I can provide screenshots of the UT2004 music manager, so you know what everything is and stuff. Have fun managing playlists! |

But a cool little thing indeed! |

wait... does this require downloading of any kind?
If so, can I get a link? I'd also like to know any requirements (file restrictions and stuff) EDIT: While in the ini file, I noticed the Sex=M thing... has anyone tried changing it to F? Last edited by slicendice777: 07-23-2011 at 07:02 AM. |

And honestly, what do you think the Sex thing will do? It's probably a leftover piece of code from the UT2.5 engine. EDIT: I should probably answer this for you: M means more sex scenes while F means fewer sex scenes. I can't be the only one to have seen the Fleshpounding poster...i should probably leave it at that... Last edited by EllEzDee: 07-23-2011 at 07:19 AM. |

But probably not. EDIT: Ok, I converted some songs to .ogg, but they still won't play. Last edited by slicendice777: 07-23-2011 at 07:54 AM. |

Also, the "Play" button tooltip is missing, it's the third button from the left. The one without a tooltip. |

It has to be in a certain quality. I don't know which one. Also, KF's music volume is kind of low by default, and you might not hear your own music. The KF music slider only goes up to 0.50 instead of 1.00 like UT2004 did. If you open the files yourself, they're actually pretty loud. So make sure it's not just so soft you can't hear it.
But I think the bit rate has something to do with it. The music menu is very picky, and it WILL crash your game if you handle it wrongly. |
