Custom texture maps and DS

Maybe Im just a complete noob, but I cant get any maps with custom textures to work in HL2DM. I created the res files, and the files download to the client, but the maps dont have any textures still, they just show up the usual purple and black checkerboard. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
