How do i get voice communication through headset only?

Hey, whatsup everyone? I've been trying to figure out how to get my usb headset to only be used as a communication device, and have my external speakers play system/games sound effects separate.

So, what I want the headset to only pick up voice communication and speakers(no voice chatter over speakers) to be used for everything else.

I'm running Windows 7 and using a generic USB headset.
Thanks in advance

Right click speaker icon, go to recording device, try blowing on the mic.
And click on that mic that shows the meter going (thats the one thats on the headset)

Then click the button "set as default"

And that should do the trick.

I believe the USB headset is set as the default sound output and recording device. He wants to switch the default output to speakers while keeping the USB headset as the default input device.

I'm not sure this is possible (don't have a USB headset) unless the game supports it.

Yea you can do that, as long as the mic and headset are seperate lines.
I have an Astro A40 and I accidently did that once.

Just go to your playback devices and put it on the speaker and your recording device to your mic

I have my Astro A40s as well (love them!) but is there a way to only get the game sound and voice chat through the headset while keeping like, music for instance, on a set of speakers? (or maybe more practically, music and voice through headset and game audio through speakers)

In playback devices, set the usb headset as default communications device, and set your speakers as default device. Voice comms should now go through the headset and game sounds through the speakers.
