What are the levels like?

I'm thinking about buying this game, but first I would like to know what the levers are like.

Are they free roam or is there always a path to follow?

its more of a path to follow, it kind of reminds me of shadowgrounds if u ever played that? u get a few enemies here and there, and then when a swarm comes in the music kicks in to warn u before they come, im upto level 3 so far i think there is about 7 levels in all

So no survival/skirmish maps/missions?
